  • Bury Hill Fisheries is found in the heart of the Surrey Hills and is thought to be one of the UK’s finest day ticket fisheries.

    The complex holds everything from 40lb carp to 30lb pike and a whole load of silver fish. The complex is made up of 4 lakes, 3 which are day ticket and 1 exclusive membership lake.

    bury-hill-fisheryOld Bury Hill Lake is a traditional mature 12 acre lake holding Carp, Pike, Tench, Bream and more. The Carp in this lake go to over 30lb and the stocking level is high giving more than enough chance for runs.

    Milton Lake is a smaller 3 acre lake that holds smaller carp and plenty of silver fish and is perfect for runs during the day or for the match angler.

    Bonds Lake is smaller still and is more suited to the match angler and has a good head of carp under 10lb with average catches running upto 50lb and it has a 2 hour match record of 86lb.

    Temple Lake is the membership lake of this complex built in 2002 this 4 acre, 15 swim lake hold 90+ 20lb carp with averages of 25lb and the current lake record of 36lb.


    CARP RULES to be read in conjunction with the Fishery Rules

    • Fishing must take place only from the platforms provided – this includes stalking
    • All anglers must be in possession of a large landing net, which has at least 36” arms with a deep mesh net – pan nets are not allowed
    • A large specimen unhooking mat must be used at all times; this must be at least 36” long and 24” wide and ideally 2” thick. Mats with a zip up the side to enable fish to be carried securely are preferred
    • Minimum line strength is 12lb
    • No braided main lines (except on marker rods) or shock leaders to be used
    • Barbless hooks only to be used (barbed and micro-barbed hooks are not allowed)
    • Please use sensible hook length materials, i.e. no spider wire – if in doubt please ask
    • No fixed rigs or bent hooks to be used
    • Method feeders are banned
    • All particle baits with the exception of sweet corn, hemp and carp pellet are banned, no trout pellets, peas, beans, nuts or maize
    • No fish to be sacked at any time, all fish to be returned to the water immediately after capture and photographing
    • Floating baits are permitted, provided that care is taken not to endanger wildlife
    • Bait boats will only be permitted when agreed with the bailiff – Carp Subs are banned
    • When photographing fish, support the fish over a large unhooking mat, kneel and never stand up with the fish
    • When returning fish to the water you must use a sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net regardless of the distance. Do not carry any fish without the use of a sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net

    General Fishery Rules

    • There is no access to the fishery before the arrival of the bailiff, please refer to the fishery’s opening and closing times
    • There is no fishing outside of the permitted times – there is strictly no night fishing
    • Access is only permitted to the public areas, please do not climb gates or trespass
    • Fish only from the platforms provided, please do not fish between swims
    • All nets must be dipped before starting to fish, dip tanks are located at each lake
    • All fish must be returned to the water immediately, do not use keepnets or sacks to retain fish
    • Anyone found killing fish and/or removing fish will be prosecuted
    • When returning fish to the water, you must use a sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net regardless of the distance being carried
    • Use only barbless hooks – barbed hooks are strictly banned
    • All forms of fixed lead are banned – all leads must be free running
    • Rods are not to be left unattended at any time or for any reason
    • Please be considerate when using buzzers; please turn the sound down as noise travels
    • Mobile telephone ringing tone volumes should also be kept to minimum and ideally turned on to vibrate
    • You must be in possession of an unhooking mat for all forms of fishing, we sell general mats and specimen mats when carp and predator fishing in the shop
    • All fish being photographed must be held over an unhooking mat at all times – photographs should be taken kneeling down under no circumstances should you hold fish standing up
    • Fish must be weighed using a sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net.
    • Particle baits are banned with the exception of sweet corn, hemp & carp pellet, the use of cat and dog food is not allowed
    • Take all litter, discarded line and unused bait home or place in the waste bins provided by the boathouse and in the car park.
    • Do not cut or otherwise damage bank-side vegetation
    • Do not disturb wildlife please advise a member of staff as soon as possible should any wildlife become hurt or injured, hooked or entangled with line, or if line becomes snagged on trees or bushes or on any underwater snag during your visit in order that this can be immediately removed
    • We do allow dogs onto the fishery, however they must be kept on a lead at all times, you must clean up after them and they must not be noisey
    • Do not light any fires and do not burn the grass when using any form of cooking equipment
    • The use of BBQ’s is strictly banned
    • Strictly no picnics
    • Toilets are available close to the lake; please use them
    • Alcohol is not to be brought onto the fishery
    • Catch reports and photographs of any notable fish caught would be appreciated for our website and notice board
